FELL & GUIDES RACES
In this section of our programme we have four guides races (three junior and one senior) and one very special fell race. The first event of the day is our fell race "The Heart of the Lakes Rydal Round". It is essentially a run around one of Lakeland's best known walks known as "Fairfield Horseshoe" - you have to be a pretty serious walker to even consider walking this magnificent route - never mind running it!
The Guides races are more easily followed by spectators as they follow a direct course up and down the fell side. The Senior Guides race is another prestige event and in the post-war era has some legendary names attached such as Bill Teasdale, Tommy Sedgewick, Fred Reeves and Reg Harrison.
